I’ve decided to start adding the day/date to the beginning of each blog entry.  To my great chagrin, both Friday and yesterday blog entries vanished sometime between yesterday early afternoon and evening.  Thankfully, since this is not the first time this has happened, I had saved copies that I republished this morning.  I was quite upset about the loss last night.  Frank was an angel and kept comforting me saying that I save everything and not to worry.  I love him.  It is such a blessing to have people that really care about you.  Good to hear that Michelle and Mike had a good first camp trip with their new trailer.  Can’t wait to see it.  I know we’ll be jealous, but at least we have unlimited borrowing rights to Mom and Dad’s RV.  One day, we will have our own.  – Today at work is going much smoother so far.  I’m still really busy; this time of year always is for me.  Scantronic came out yesterday and replaced parts on the malfunctioning dot matrix, and it seems to be working just fine.  I finished reviewing the eight charts (and two fee tickets) that prove that my report is working just fine; Nurse tried to say that eight kids she was sure got flu shots didn’t show up on my report and my research and review of the kids charts show that she is incorrect.  The three kids that actually did get the flu vaccine were not billed and that is their mistake, not my report.  Now I can get back to my payment posting.  – Mom sent pictures last night.  I love so many of them that I have to space them out to post.  – I really should get on the ball and do backup CDs of pictures and blog html files.  It would break my heart if I were to lose any of it.

– OK, as usual, the 10:00 hour here at work seems to be some strange bewitching hour.  If things are going to turn sour for a while, it’s pretty much going to happen then.  Administrator tell two people something late Friday and expects them to be in charge of informing the whole business office…And he doesn’t tell them that.  When I mention to him that not everyone knew, he came back at me sharply that it was not his job to disseminate the information and that we are all adults.  Kept my ever rapidly tightening lips shut as he huffed off.  I almost made matters worse with my fury at him berating me in front of Debbie and Scott, I stormed over and tried to let the gals know that he was being a butt and expecting that they would have known it was there job to inform.  My irritation at him came across as irritation at them for not telling which sparked a backhanded comment from LB about how if everyone worked from 8-5 that it would be an issue.  I came right back at her and told her that people that were here those hours, Scott, didn’t hear anything about it and then continued to grumble on.  I typed and apology to LB and gals at my harshness coming across to them and explained that I was given these hours for duties that were computer related, not business office.  After a brief crescendo in femalian enmity, we got the communication barriers trounced and we’re one great big happy family again.  We could get back to productivity; the true culprit, miscommunication, being identified and Jeff being recognized as the carrier.

Word(s) of the day:  VEXATION

Lexie log: Pretty quiet day yesterday at home.  She just fell asleep as I was on my way home, and didn’t wake up until well after 6:00.  After her dinner, fettuccini and Trader Joes sweet corn, yogurt and a cookie for dessert, she watched Scooby Doo for the umpteenth time, then started pulling down VHS tapes from the collection in her room.  First she picked a “Little People” short movie, then Fantasia.  At some point I snuck outside and watched her watch the whole piece with the ballet hippo and crocodile.  It was so fun to watch her watch.  – She has a fascination with ghosts lately.  It even started before the Halloween season, but the timing is perfect.

Is snuck really a word?

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, doses of humor, friends, family, the eventual end of flu shot season (getting the flu would be less of a hassle than my job during flu shot season), happiness, senses, water, and did I mention happiness.

She walks into a room, And you know from her, Maddening pose, effortless whirl, She's the special girl

Well, running reports on both PRISM sessions in the foreground, and about to jump into Saturday’s humungous mail, so I thought I’d blog early.  – Strange (well not strange really, just unknown) person in the pool this morning.  She was doing odd water aerobic type exercises in the center lane.  I tried to ignore her and was mostly successful, but at one point I caught site of her legs in my peripheral on a down stroke and it startled the crap out of me.  So, my head went flying up out of the water and towards her.  It must have looked pretty retarded, but I wouldn’t even begin to know the expression on her face since I, of course, was wearing goggles and couldn’t see crudola without my glasses on.  I forgot to check the timer on the Jacuzzi, and had to get out halfway through to reset it.  As soon as I walked into the pool area, I was pleased to smell the sweet fragrance of Eucalyptus and thought to my self that they finally fixed up the steam room, but there was a sign on the door saying it was in maintenance still.  No bother, I sure do appreciate that they’re maintaining it!  So, two ten minute sessions in the sauna instead.  I sat across from the door and watched Rudy do laps and then a cute older Asian couple shared lane one and did strange laps using kickboards and long floaty tubes.  The woman bent hers (floaty tube, for lack of any formal name to call it – that I know of) into the shape of a U and bounced, jumped, whatever, back and forth down the length of the pool.  Jump, Kick, Jump, Kick. Well, off to do the mail…Blog more later. Had such a super awesome weekend!

– OK, back around lunchtime now.  Morning went smoothly, then a couple speed bumps made it crap.  Brief update.  Work is a pain in the arse.  Not the actual job duties, just the personality conflicts and political bullshit.  I am peeved right now.  There is someone who works here who is being mistreated, and there is nothing I can do to help.  Then on top of that, someone made a comment to me about members of our walking team that I found completely inappropriate and I’m having a difficult time coming to terms with it.  It complicated, and I should be keeping it simple.  Somebody said that there were other people on the team that were ‘flakes’ and I’m upset about this.  I need some cool off time.  Mommy, I wanna go home!

Word(s) of the day:  PUMPKIN PATCH

Lexie log:  We had the best weekend!  Saturday we went to Gramma Betty’s and went to Jantzen Beach Mall.  Lexie rode the carousel eight times.  First with Gramma Betty, then alternating between Daddy and I.  Different horse each time.  She just loved it, threw a fit when we had to leave.  Then Sunday, Grammy, Tracy, Lucas, Sierra, and Dana all came to watch Lexie’s third swim lesson.  Grammy sat on pool deck and Lexie loved that she was there.  After swim we went to Lakeview Farm Pumpkin Patch.  Oh what a blast!  Lexie squeezed in a five-minute nap between swim and Pumpkin.   First we went to the animals and she saw Harley the Hog, four rabbits, a chicken and two goats.  Next we ate Kettle corn (she’s never had before) as we waited for the paddleboat.  Took the paddleboat across the lake, past the scary shark and sea monsters that jump at the boat (hydraulics) and scare the kiddies.  Oh what a blast.  She had words and words to say to that shark.  Then we wandered through the patch in search of the perfect pumpkin.  At some point Lucas came over and grabbed Lexie’s hand and took her off to go look for one.  It was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.  She just adores him so much.  After finding the pumpkins they went through a hay-bale maze and rode the ponies. Then the train trip back to the farm, hotdogs and some goofing off.  Lexie and Daddy played with a large inflatable ball for a while.  Tracy and I got our picture taken.  Lexie yelled for Lucas anytime he went out of her sight.  Heaven would be to have days like that every day.  She finally fell asleep after eating half her dinner and watching Casper.  I can’t wait to see the pictures for yesterday.  We need more play-dates with Lucas.  They have too much fun together, and what a bonus for me, his mother is one of my best friends!  Last night when I was on the phone with Tracy, Lucas got on the line and said that he had a surprise, but we had to come get it, then he came back on the line and said it was for Lexie.  That carried me through the rest of the night! I can still hear his sweet little voice this morning.  I’ll post pictures soon!

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, Grammy, Tracy and family, Lakeside Pumpkin Patch, water wings, swimming, Children of the Sea, Jacuzzi, weekends, happiness, and joy.

Friday 10-7-05
Grumpus day.  Argued about weekend plans, and lack of transportation and I’m just not quite in the mood to be bubbly and chirpy.  Two good things going for today;  It’s Friday so weekend with Lexie and Frank, and…It’s not yesterday!  After I blogged yesterday, everything went chaotic on my arse.  The printer maintenance dude showed up, cleaned and jostled and basically, 30 minutes after he left, it fouled up again.  I’ve been going back to the printer every half hour or so since to literally beat the thing into submission just to pump out this 2600 page Master Patient List report for Medical Records.  I force the printer head back and forth along the cables until it finds a ‘loose’ spot and will print for a little longer.  When I got in this morning there was a message from the maintenance dude that he came back around six, messed with it some more, got it to work very temporarily, and has ordered parts.  Parts should show up today and someone will be back to do the replacement on Monday.  Speaking of…I’ve got to go beat it up right now, I can’t hear the sweet music of dot matrix…I think today is a coffee day.  I want my Starbucks card reloaded! (Previous sentence should be read with a nasally ‘twang’ and that special whiny inflection).

– Oh my!  I just had an epiphany!  I think my biological father is a Scientologist!  Ok, so this is totally out of context with the previous topics, but here at work we have been discussing Cruise and Holmes, the announcement of their pregnancy, the topic of Scientology and Ron L Hubbard.  It makes perfect sense to me based on memories and personality similarities that Lloyd is a Scientologist.  Hmm.  Guess I may never know.

Word(s) of the day:  BURKE

Lexie log:  I just love her.  I hope we get to go to the pumpkin patch this weekend.  I just think she’d love it and the weather is supposed to be decent.  I went many years ago with Tracy when Sierra was just a tot and it was awesome.  You get to ride a boat and a train and there were fake pirates in the lake.  I’m having a big sigh, majorly difficult to stay at work today.  It’s taking every fiber of my being not to just run home and just hug her and make her laugh and just enjoy her.

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, weekends, couches, blankets, baby dolls, stuffed animals, love, gratitude and happiness.

But we're never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy...

Not much to say today.  Seth out so doing IT, so far the TI880 dot matrix is down (again, this happened last time he was out also).  Waiting for maintenance contractor to show up. Oddly enough the print spooler is behaving so far.  Only had one computer problem to resolve in Help Desk type fashion so far.  Accounts Payable (Marylue) had issues with her IE home page returning Error message.  Fixed with ease and was called “a good soul”.  Month end close is today, so I will be doing application and OS backups for the HP UNIX in a bit.  Then for one of my other hats…Administrator (Jeff) wants separate reports by doc for Flex Sigs done in 2004 and 2005 for credentialing.  Manager (Barb) wants report by doc (w/page break) for flu shots given to under 18 during 2004-2005 flu season.  Also have report request from auditor (Scott) for OV 99213 for his bill type and payor for some time frame I can’t remember off the tiptop of my head.  Hat number three…Administrator Jeff refers to me as ‘analyst’ in email to PHCS network manager (Jennifer) and says that I will be reviewing the new fee list proposal for accuracy with a $65 conversion factor for 2004 RVUs. Hat number four…still have primary job of account auditor and should be posting payments and working accounts receivable report.  Halfway through posting $8,000 batch of payments, but still three more days of the month of October in my drawer.  In the off moments, I’m coordinating the Portland to Coast Walk relay team registration and collection the when I’m not blogging or playing Spider.  All sounds important enough, but it’s really nothing much.

Word(s) of the day: MAMBY-PAMBY

Lexie log:  Thanks to Carrie, Lexie watched both Scooby Doo and Scooby Doo Two last night.  When I got home we played for a while, watched movies, ate dinner, and she never took a nap.  I like when she doesn’t take a late afternoon nap, because she goes to bed easily with us at 10:00pm, however, it does mean she can be quite a grumpuss if she doesn’t head to bed earlier on her own, which she usually won’t stand for.  She tells Daddy she wants to be a movie star.

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, weekends, pay differential, LOST, the writing in the movie Shackles, Diet Pop, hand lotion, and calculators.

Well...the midnight headlight, Find you on a rainy night, Steep grade up ahead, Slow me down makin no time, I gotta keep rollin'...

Those windshield wipers, Slappin' out a tempo, Keepin' perfect rhythm, With the song on the radio, Gotta keep rollin'…

We have a team!  Now I just need all the entry fees and a name.  I sent out an email to vote on names with the following options:  Wandering Nomads, Wayward Wanderers, Walk and Roll, and Off Your Walker.  So far, Off Your Walker is in the lead.  – Last night we made popcorn the old fashioned way…In a pan with oil, lid, and heat.  It was a blast and it tasted better!  Open faced egg salad and cheese sandwiches for dinner at 4:30 and homemade popcorn for a late night snack at ten.

Word(s) of the day:  ARBORETUM

Lexie log:  Daddy rented her Cinderella last night and she watched as she built her lego castle.  – She loves olives, just to suck on though.  Daddy gave her a green olive last night and she must have sucked on that thing for about an hour before he finally convinced her to bite into it.  He had given her one the night before also, and after hours, she finally gave it back to him whole.  Last night, after she bit into it and chewed it up, she decided she didn’t want to actually swallow it.  She held it in her mouth for the longest time, and then eventually gave it back to Daddy.  I don’t like olives, well maybe sliced and black in my spaghetti, but never green and pickled in a jar.  Blech!  I think her Gramma Betty likes to suck on them like candy too.

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, dreams, pillows, German Shepards, humor, spiders, boats, winking kittens, and deep breath meditation.

What you find, ah What you feel now, What you know - To be real

Yesterday Frank cleaned up the house (floors, etc), then Mom and Dad came over.  Dad and Frank took a truckload of crap to the dump.  Mom stayed at the house with Lexie and played.  I worked.  I got all my batches done, and all my other stuff.  Now all I have to do is my inbox, and work my A/R.  Yesterday I had a tremendous chip on my shoulder all day about the Caste System here.  Doctors rule supreme, we are subservient crap.  I have actually heard of other clinics where doctors don’t treat ‘regular people’ like they are subhuman, or maybe the doctors are superhuman, I can’t remember.  Study the same damn subject for enough years and I guess it makes you omnipotent.  Maybe one of these days I’ll learn enough about anatomy and disease systems to be classified as intelligent life…NOT!  All this over a coffee cart?  My attitude is coming back into alignment with the stars and/or a higher energy level today…So far I am in a much more pleasant mood today than yesterday.  Only glitch is I’m tired.  I’m usually tired when I don’t go to the gym, even though I get two hours more sleep.

Word(s) of the day:  SMIRK

Lexie log:  She was so precious last night.  Grammy came over for her Monday visit and they played.  Then when I got home from work, we played a little more, then went to Fred Meyers.  Lexie was asleep by the time we got there, so we put her in an infant-seat-shopping cart, even though she is twelve pounds over the recommended weight limit.  She was zonked as we shopped for groceries.  She lay there sweet as an angel with her favorite new companion, a baby doll that her Aunt Karen gave her.  Everyone who saw her couldn’t resist smiling and even one store employee stood and stared at her and remarked on how adorable she was.  – Grammy got Lexie a new bicycle helmet, some swim goggles, and a Dr. Seuss book.  She wouldn’t let go of the book darn nearly all evening.  I know I read it to her once, and I’m sure Grammy did at least that, but then she even just sat in her pajamas on the kitchen floor looking at the pictures and turning the pages.  – The goggles were a hit.  She wore them around the house for a while, stopping in front of the mirror to gaze at herself.  Then she wanted a bath.  Once in the tub she wanted her goggles on, and then after that, she even wanted her swimsuit. We accommodated her and she used it as an extension of her swim lesson.  She put her face in the water and blew bubbles and kicked her feet.  When she was done with her ‘practice’ she wanted her goggles and suit off, and it was regular bath time.  – The other cute thing she did last night was playing with her castle Lego blocks.  We were in her room and she asked for them out of her closet.  I took them out for her and left the room for about 5-10 minutes.  Then she came out and exclaimed, “Momma, come on, I’ll show you!”  She took me by the hand and led me into her room where she had assemble the blocks into an impressive arrangement.  I got the camera and took a couple pictures.  I played with her for a while longer, maybe 20 minutes, but there is only so much Lego play I can engage in, especially when she kept stealing my blocks out from under me.  So I left and Daddy and I came back every so often to see what new structures she created.  Then, when she was finished, she came out and said she was done and had put it away.  I thought she meant she wanted me to put it away, but when I went back in her room, she had put all the blocks back in the tub, put the lid on, and put it back in the closet, she just wanted me to close the closet door for her.  She is such a tremendous joy to me!

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, Mom and Dad, Nemo, movies, Legos, blue things, water, and smiles.

Lexie waits on the swim deck before class yesterday. Posted by Picasa

Lexie and Matthew wait as teacher AJ put's Kendal's goggles back on for the umpteenth time. It was really hard to get good pictures during the lesson as the flash didn't work well at that distance and without flash it usually was blurry. This is the 'island' that they 'swim' to. Lexie wouldn't go under the bar, just over. Posted by Picasa

Lexie on the edge of the pool, more than ready for her turn to latch on to Teacher AJ and do a swim roll u-turn. She's learned to climb out the side of the pool on her own. So cute... Posted by Picasa

When you're strange, faces come out of the rain, When you're strange, no one remembers your name, when you're strange...

A farewell thee weekend.  I miss you already.  Monday reports, Monthly reports, Saturday mail, and two more days to post for month end.  Inbox piling up with HCFAs and research paper/pull work. At least the day will go by fast.  Ok, so then they’re (I’m not really sure who ‘they’ are) setting up a coffee dealio-thingy in the conference room, and they try to maneuver the cart through the business office, the only way upstairs to the conference room.  The cart doesn’t fit around the bend in the hallway, so I get stuck on the opposite side from my desk until they can offload their equipment.  Strange delays.  – Frank cleaned the gutters Saturday.  I started up the ladder to try to help and promptly had a panic attack.  Strangest thing since I used to climb up to the very same roof from the fence on the side of the house, and even jump back down.  Every once in a while I think I’ll post our current shopping list, just for time capsule sake (and because for some reason it keeps cycling through my head all morning).

Shopping list:
Wet and dry cat food (Friskies for both)
5 cans of grapefruit segments in light syrup (usually Flavorite)
10 cans spinach (7-8 oz cans)
Gas for the car
Diet Cherry Coke and Sprite
Vitamins
Frozen blueberries
Deodorant
UltraSwim shampoo and conditioner
Diapers
Arm & Hammer multi-cat scoopable kitty litter
Swim goggles and water-wings for Lex
Rain gear for Lex (boots, coat, pants)
Bike helmet for Lex

So, there you have it.

Word(s) of the day: ABUNDANCE

Lexie log:  She did well in swim lessons.  She’s still hesitant to put her face full in the water, and went over the ‘island’ bar instead of under like the other two kids.  I’m pretty sure that besides being slightly younger than the other two kids, this is not their first session in swim, so they are more familiar with the routine.  In fact, from what I can tell so far they are basically doing similar or the same exercises as the preceding session, just without parents in the water.  So, Lex doesn’t have the advantage of previous experience, and taking that into consideration, she is doing excellent.  Saturday Lexie and I hung out and played in the house while Daddy did the gutters, then we went over and visited with Gramma Betty.  Gramma Betty got Lexie a new pair of Sketchers and slippers.  Sunday after swim we went and checked out the Beaverton Trader Joe’s and bought a few groceries.  On the way into the store, it started to downpour, the second we’ve had so far this Fall.  After groceries, we went to La Fogata for takeout Mexican (Lexie still has lackluster taste buds so she stuck with a ham and cheese sandwich), and then we crawled into bed and got cozy, warm, cuddly, laughed, giggled, and took the first rainy, cold, Fall afternoon nap.  Man! I do love weekends!

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, Mom and Dad, Gramma Betty, swim lessons, Fall naps, and happiness.
