Sierra, I'm so tripped out about how grown up she is. Posted by Picasa

The infamous slide. We lost track of how many times she went down it. Posted by Picasa

Odd ride, Lexie like it once, but not fast enough for her. Posted by Picasa

Oh bring us a figgy pudding, and a cup of good cheer!

Dry, windy, below freezing winter weather is an excellent combination for knee pain.  My joints are achy this morning.  – Sweet Thumper follows me around the house in the mornings, waiting for when I sit on the couch to put my shoes on.  Then he puts his head in my lap and I give him morning affection.  Tiki sleeps on a pillow at the top of the bed and I cuddle him every morning before I get up.  Miadda always ends up waking me up some way or another on her way from the floor to a pillow above Frank’s head, and I give her scratches and love. Chikita is another who follows me around in the morning for affection, and usually I wake up to find she has slept on my back.  Turkey Swoop sleeps either on the hope chest or the heated cat pad in the living room.  I find some way to give him scratches and love on the way out the door.  Chikita and Thump got into it bad last night.  Chikita got him good (bad) on the ear and he cried out and blood dripped on the floor.  Of course, I was blow drying Lexie’s hair after her evening bath when Frank appealed to me to assist in refereeing the event.  Medical attention to the ear and scolding to both parties and all was well.

Word(s) of the day:  AILUROPHILE

Lexie log:  Slow progress, but she is getting better.  She’s sleeping better through the night, although I did wake up at three AM to her and Daddy in her room and her protesting about taking another dose of medicine and drinking more water.  – Her birthday has lasted a long time this year.  It started  on the official day, the first, then kept dragging along until at least Wednesday.  Presents and events have been trickling on the whole time up until the last gift from Jan Wednesday.  Well, last night she asked if she could have a birthday present.  Isn’t that sweet?

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, weekends, root beer, chairs, comfortable shoes, nice people, transportation, shelter, food, luxury basically, and life.

The little dog laughed to see such a sight, And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Ok, ooooh sooooo much better today.  Yesterday was a write off as far as productivity here at work.  I was teary eyed the moment I got in.  Lexie had been up coughing and crying most of the night and wouldn’t take any medicine.  She just spit it out.  As soon as I sat down at my desk I was unsettled.  Then Jan came in and saw me crying and told me to get the heck out of here and take care of Lexie.  MaryLu gave me a project and that sent me over the edge.  ….And this little Piggy cried, “Wah wah wah!” all the way home.  I slept till 2:00pm. Today is going so much better.  – Our thoughts and prayers are with the administrator and his family for the loss of his father.  – This is the week of conference calls.

Word(s) of the day:  WORD WRAP RAPPING

Lexie log:  As I started to blog yesterday, she was miserable Tuesday night and refused to take any medicine.  I stayed up and down with her I went home, Lexie ran up to me asking me to hold her off and on as she had coughing fits.  Then after I came home from work Wednesday morning, I rocked her to sleep and then we all slept until 9:30.  Lexie got up and Daddy finally got her to take some Robitussin.  He had to just keep coming back with more every time she would spit it back out.  Finally, she swallowed it, and we all gave her such a “Atta Girl!” that coupled with the fact that we pointed out when she started feeling better, and the next time she took it down the first time and was proud of it!  She was such a trooper, she opened her last birthday present, from Jan, and played bead dress up.  – Just got a phone message from Daddy and Lexie is agreeing to take cold medicine, what a trooper.

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, Mom and Dad, Secret Santa, cough suppressant, rest, weekends, and life.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away...

What’s the deal with the gas bill more than tripling?!?  That’s a special Christmas gift, now isn’t it!  We did get a Secret Santa card in the mail with a Fred Meyer’s gift card in it.  I haven’t been able to stop struggling with how to spend it.

Word(s) of the day: SOMNOLENT

Lexie log: Poor little angel is sick again.  We half expected her to get something from the germ breeding fest at Chuck E Cheese.  She looked a little flushed and drained yesterday, sneezed every so often and even coughed once in a while.  I’m going home to take care of her.

Lexie with her new necklace and purse. She has a massive cold, but thanks to sleeping and napping all day, and some children's cold medicine, she's still able to appreciate some gifts. Posted by Picasa
