See the sun come up on Sunday morning...

What a glorious weekend!  And, I’m getting quite caught up and up to speed on the workload here.  The weather yesterday was beautiful, especially for February.  Yesterday, Frank and I got a little done out in back.  I swept off the deck, mostly, and he did the bird feeders and Thumper poop patrol.  I wish it were easier to persuade him not to debark every branch on the carpeted deck.  It’s just too time consuming to sweep that outdoor carpet.

Interesting news to note:  Vice President Dick Cheney shot a fellow hunter in the face while quail hunting Saturday.  New York is buried under two feet of snow after the worst snow storm in it’s recorded history.

Word(s) of the day:  OFFICE USE ONLY

Lexie log:  Saturday we took Thumper to Dittler’s.  He ran up and down the beach chasing the waves.  He did chase one stick into the water and did a full on swim, but it was a bit cold and he thought better of going in that far again.  Our thoughts have been confirmed however, he will very likely be a water dog.  It was very windy, but we were dressed warm, and it air dried Thumper nicely.  We watched people kite surfing on the river and on the sand.  Then we went to Gramma Betty’s for a while.  Patty Ann brought over Gavin and Marissa, so Lexie got to play with them for a while.  – Yesterday at swim it was the halfway mark where the teachers evaluate and make initial recommendations for next session. Teacher AJ came right out and told us that he has her penciled in for water safety one.  He doesn’t want her in basic water safety, as he says that is for children with a fear of the water, and she obviously doesn’t have that.  The thing is that she didn’t listen very well in class yesterday, and he said unless she improves her listening and following instructions, she will be put back in transitional.  He knows she can do everything required, but she many times does not wait for, “Ready! Go!”, and yesterday, she was obstinate and wouldn’t pull herself out of the water.  Daddy and I know that this is 90% nap related.  The more rested she is for class, the better she listens and follows along.  But…we haven’t figured a way to force sleep on her.  Maybe if we leave a half hour early and drive around?  I don’t know.  Either way, the bottom line is she loves swim class, and she will learn to swim safely in her own time.  – Hopefully next Sunday, we will go with Grammy and Grandpa to the IMAX short animation at OMSI. This weekend Grandpa was getting over his cold and to exhausted to go.

Today I’m grateful for Frank and Lexie, Mom and Dad, humor, coffee, swimming, walking, warmer weather, and life.
